A candy is the most basic item in Candy Box. The player automatically begins to acquire a continuously increasing supply at the start of the game, initially with two options for their disposal:
- Eat all the candies
- Removes all your candies, and increases the "You have eaten ... candies" count. Also slowly increases your maximum health during Quests, until this reaches 500.
- Throw 10 candies on the ground
- Removes ten candies, and increases the "You threw ... candies on the ground" count. Appears to have no effect; as you continue wasting your candy, a smiley appears by the counter and becomes increasingly morose.
Later on in the game, the player can use candies as currency to trade with the Candy Merchant, to buy items such as a lollipop or the wooden sword.
